N9WH is the club call of THE 415 Amateur Radio Club - generally known as THE 415.  First and foremost, we are a club organized around Field Day (Winter Field Day as well).  When we are not planning or participating in Field Day, we gather on 146.415 FM simplex and solve all the world's problems. We believe in Fun, Friendship, Food, & Radio. We have no “formal” membership and no weekly or monthly meetings. We do however, have an annual meeting over dinner at Field Day for all who wish to attend. If you believe you’re a member, then you are.

We welcome EVERYBODY to participate in Field Day - you don't have to be a "415er" to share in the fun! Just get on 146.415 and tell anyone in the McHenry /Lake county area you want to be part of Field Day and you'll get pointed in the right direction.  You don't have to be a licensed ham to belong to the 415 or participate in field day.. Part of our mission is to promote Amateur Radio to the young and unlicensed. We invite the scouting program to participate - no license is required as we have a special Get On The Air (GOTA) station just for this purpose.  Although we are a competitive field day station, we encourage fun and a no pressure environment. We provide an environment where new hams can learn operating skills from veteran hams as well as each other. We encourage everyone's participation.  If you belong to another club, you are welcome to come to The 415 ARC FD as well.
