The Boeing Employees Amateur Radio Society - St. Louis (BEARS) is comprised of current and retired employees of The Boeing Company's St. Louis, MO faciity. Due to the nature of the defense industry and the business conducted at the St. Louis site, membership is not open to the general public.
The BEARS provide back up emergency communications services for the St. Louis metropolitan area as well as supporting the St. Louis County ARES organization. Our organization is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the amateur radio stations located in the Boeing St. Louis Site Emergency Operations Center. The BEARS members also provide portable communications systems for a variety of public service and charitable events, such as walk-a-thons, etc.,in the St. Louis area.
BEARS members meet monthly to discuss topics relative to breakthoughs in technology related to amateur radio, as well as to practice and hone our skills in the area of emergency communications. Various members of the BEARS team work with the Boy Scouts, FIRST (robotics) and other STEM related outreach programs.
