Upcoming Contests - Things to Do

The IARU HF World Championship occurs this weekend, beginning at 1200 UTC on Saturday, July 8 and concluding at 1159 UTC on Sunday, July 9. Participants can enter in CW, SSB, or mixed mode categories. The exchange is a signal report and your ITU zone. ITU zones for stations in the Lower 48 are 6, 7, or 8. ITU zones for Canadian stations are 2, 3, 4, or 9. US and Canadian participants should visit the rules page for more information on how to determine their ITU Zone.

In addition, stations operated by members of the IARU Administrative Council; the three IARU Regional Executive committees, and IARU member-society HQ stations from around the globe will be on the air. HQ stations will send their member-society abbreviations. See https://www.iaru.org/reference/member-societies/ for a list of IARU member-societies.

ARRL HQ station W1AW/KH6 will be on the air from Hawaii, and IARU HQ station NU1AW will be on the air from Newington.

For rules and more information, visit arrl.org/iaru-hf-world-championship.

For VHF enthusiasts, the CQ World Wide VHF Contest is coming up next weekend, starting at 1800 UTC on Saturday, July 15 and running through 2100 UTC on Sunday, July 16. The event is open to amateurs around the world using the 6- and 2-meter bands. Complete rules are available at www.cqww-vhf.com/.

Next weekend also kicks off the first of three mode-based summer North American QSO Parties (NAQPs). The NAQP RTTY contest starts at 1800 UTC on Saturday, July 15, and concludes 12 hours later at 0559 UTC on Sunday, July 16. See the rules page at ncjweb.com/naqp/ for more information.

The yearlong ARRL Volunteers On the Air event, recognizing the support and contributions of ARRL volunteers, continues. Get on the air and make contacts with as many ARRL volunteers or members as possible. There will be week-long activations of portable W1AW/# stations in all 50 states, and in several US Possessions/Territories. For a schedule of W1AW/# portable operations, see the W1AW Portable Activations Schedule. Be sure to upload your logs to LoTW and check your score online. Check out the full details at http://vota.arrl.org.
