The Cleveland Wireless Association was formed in 1927 during the early years of amateur radio. The club constitution was signed July 1930. During August 25 - September 2, 1929 the Cleveland Wireless Association was granted exclusive control of all communications for the famous Cleveland Air Races, operating from headquarters station W8BF. 8BF was one of the nine spark stations heard during he Second Transatlantic Test (see ARRL's book "Two Hundred Meters and Down") page 73.
